Nordic walking

Nordic walking is very different from hiking. It has been recognized as a full-fledged sport since 1997 and can be described as a 'summer' version of cross-country skiing. Walks using this technique give you a real workout, which is carried out with especially designed poles. They are not for leaning on, but for extra thrust and getting almost every muscle in your body moving. This is why it is considered a very efficient and cheap fitness activity. It also allows you to immerse yourself in nature and gorgeous landscapes.

If you are a beginner, or if you love to go Nordic walking in a group, it would be a good idea to get in touch with one of the local Italian Nordic walking associations. They organize walks all year round. The routes do not search out steep inclines; on the contrary, elevation gain is not a crucial element in Nordic walking. Routes should be fairly even, so this activity is carried out on trails in a variety of settings ranging from plains to plateaus.

There are many routes, especially to the north of Lake Garda, on the Monte Baldo and around the border with Trentino. The land around the lake belonging to the Veneto region also offers many breathtaking routes through vineyards, olive groves and castles. But if water is your element, there is no shortage of guided walks along the shores of the lake. There is something to suit everybody's fancy!

If you want to venture into Lake Garda Trentino, more than 100 km of paths exclusively designed for Nordic walking excursions await you, both at high altitude and along various paths that will lead you to the wonderful Lake Garda, with breathtaking scenery. There are several mapped itineraries, all marked by specific colors and information signs, which are distinguished from each other based on the length of the route, the height difference and the difficulty.

As for the Brescia side of Lake Garda, if you are near Tremosine - Limone - Campione and you love Nordic walking, we suggest the excursion to discover Tremosine and its hamlets, where you will have the opportunity to get in touch with the traditions and customs of the inhabitants of the area.
