If you are on holiday on Lake Garda and have symptoms or suspect you have been infected, DO NOT go to hospital or health facilities, but immediately call the free number of the region where you are:
Trentino: 800 86 73 88 (multilingual).

The emergency number 112 should only be called in an emergency.
If you have a fever over 37.5 °C or acute respiratory infections, do not leave your pitch/accommodation unit and do not go to the Reception.

Dengue fever on Lake Garda? Let us clarify things a little
Recently there have been many newspaper articles in Germany about dengue fever at Lake Garda. What is the truth behind these reports?
Since 19 August, suspected cases of dengue fever have been reported in two municipalities on Lake Garda, Manerba and Padenghe. In these cases, it is suspected that those affected did not contract the virus while travelling, but in Italy itself.
However, the health authority of Brescia has informed that there is no confirmed case of dengue fever at Lake Garda to date. So there is currently no danger or risk for holidaymakers at Lake Garda.
The Italian health authorities have confirmed that there have been a total of six dengue infections in Italy that are not due to a trip to the tropics. Five of these cases are from Lombardy, one from Rome. There have been no health complications in any of the cases so far.
The Foreign Office has updated its travel information for Italy. It is now pointed out that dengue viruses are occasionally transmitted in Italy by diurnal Aedes mosquitoes. The disease is usually accompanied by fever, skin rash and pain in the limbs.
Travellers should protect themselves from mosquito bites, especially during the day. This can be done, for example, with mosquito repellent, long-sleeved clothing and mosquito nets. There is also a vaccination against dengue fever.
There are no confirmed cases of dengue fever at Lake Garda so far. Holidaymakers can therefore continue to feel safe. To protect themselves from mosquito bites, they should take the usual precautions.
