Suspended between heaven and earth: the Tibetan Bridge of Torri del Benaco
The Tibetan bridge of Torri del Benaco connects the towns of Crero and Pai di Sopra, in the heart of the Vanzana valley. Various paths allow you to explore this eastern shore of Lake Garda on foot, but even just crossing the bridge is a unique experience. Opened in 2019, it quickly became a major local attraction. 34 meters long, one meter wide, it stands 44 meters high: it is ideal for an excursion full of emotions but in total safety, perfect for the whole family. Suspended between heaven and earth, it is possible to admire the wild gorge below and a splendid panorama of Lake Garda, dotted with olive trees and lush vegetation.
Crossing the bridge is an experience for everyone: an unusual surprise for sports lovers, great fun for children, an unmissable opportunity to take amazing photos. Excursions can be done in all seasons: the mild climate of Lake Garda offers incredible colors and scents at any time of the year. In addition to offering a unique emotion, the bridge was also built with the aim of connecting two important paths, the CAI path 38 and 39, thus reaching the "Senter de mes" (Middle Path) close to the lake, from Malcesine to Garda.
Made of steel with non-slip grids, it allows a safe and stable walk. The inevitable slight swing, however, gives an extra thrill. The safety of the crossing comes first, which is why the bridge can be crossed by a maximum of fifteen people at a time. The passage is also easily allowed for cyclists, as long as they have the bike by hand.
And, to combine adrenaline and culture, not far from here there is a site with numerous rock carvings, attributed to shepherds and hunters who passed through these areas. Over time, the engravings have settled on the rock, making it a true natural slate. A visit that absolutely cannot be missed.
How to get to the Tibetan bridge of Torri del Benaco? The way is simple. The Bridge is located in Crero and to reach it, simply exit at Affi from the Modena-Brenner motorway. Once on the eastern Gardesana road, continue to Garda/Torri del Benaco following the signs. The road that goes up to Crero can be a bit narrow and winding but, once you get there, the view is incomparable. Leave the car in one of the two convenient parking lots, it's time to put on your boots and set off on an adventure. From here there are three trekking routes: starting from Crero you can cross the Tibetan bridge and go back to the starting point, or continue to the village of Pai. Alternatively, you can choose one of the various paths that cross the bridge, such as the mentioned Senter de Mes, or the equally beautiful path of San Zeno di Montagna. On the way!
