Lake Ledro

Lago di Ledro, Trento

Lake Ledro for the whole family: from sport to history to relaxation.

Lake Ledro, just a few kilometers from Lake Garda, is among the most beautiful in the area, with its emerald waters.

Lying in the valley that connects Lake Garda with the Chiese valley, it is surrounded by thick vegetation and is an ideal place for bathing, fishing and water sports.

Lake Ledro is only 15 kilometers from Riva del Garda and 25 kilometers from Limone sul Garda, and for this reason it is the ideal place for a day trip.

Riva del Garda, in particular, is connected thanks to the suggestive Ponale path, one of the most beautiful panoramic routes to be covered on foot or by bike.

Lovers of sports, especially water sports, will find an ideal place here. The bathing waters of the lake, in fact, are never too moved by the wind, and for this reason it is perfect for many activities including sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, stand up paddling, swimming, and even fishing, of course with a regular permit.

In fact, Lake Ledro is an environment particularly rich in fish fauna. Among the most caught fish there are trout, perch, pike, and eels.

Another fun activity for the whole family is a picnic on the water: you can rent a boat, choose your favorite basket and enjoy a lunch or a snack in the middle of the lake.

Those who prefer to relax in the sun can choose among four public beaches: the one in Pieve di Ledro, in Molina di Ledro, in Mezzolago, and in Pur.

The latter is perfect if you are traveling with animals: it is a pet friendly beach, your four-legged friends can run around freely.

And if you love running too, the ten kilometers around the lake is perfect for running (but also for cycling or for a simple walk). It is one of the most popular walks due to its beauty, ease of travelling, and low altitude difference.

But not only sports: Lake Ledro is also famous for the discovery on the eastern shore of a large area of pile dwellings dating back to the Bronze Age. The discovery dates back to 1929 when, due to a strong drop in water, the remains of a Neolithic village dating back to about four thousand years ago were found.

The site – the most important in Europe in terms of extension and conservation – has been a UNESCO heritage site since 2011. The adjacent Pile Dwelling Museum , born in the 1970s, accompanies the visitor in the daily life of the Bronze Age through the original remains and reconstructions of the village.

It doesn't end here! Those who decide to spend a day on the shores of Lake Ledro can also immerse themselves in Ledro Land Art : a path where art and nature meet in order to create a dialogue where the forest and creativity find the perfect balance. Along the enchanted path that runs along the Assat stream, it is possible at any time of the year to admire the works of art created with natural materials, designed exactly for this place.

Sport, culture, history, relaxation... whatever your idea of a holiday is, a visit to Lake Ledro awaits you!
