Riva del Garda
An excursion at Lake Garda and in the beautiful city of Riva del Garda will fascinate you for the ancient historical heritage and the past full of culture. Among the alleys of the old town and the little streets which from the harbour lead to the inland, you can’t miss a visit of the Rocca, which is today the location of the civic museum and of the gallery, the Torre Apponale, the churches of the Inviolata and of S. Maria Assunta and the hydroelectric central can’t be missed, realized among the shores of the lake during the 20’s from the architect Giancarlo Maroni, the same of the Vittoriale degli Italiani. Here a unique and enchanting experience is waiting for you, in order to discover how water turns into clean energy.
Only 3 km from Riva del Garda, the Waterfall Varone is one of the most appreciated naturalistic attractions of the high Garda. The park was inaugurated in 1874 and, since then, became one of the tourists’ favourite destinations. The waterfall is fomented from the underground water losses of Lake Tenno. There are many walkways from which you can admire the water jump and watch the erosion of the calcareous rocks. To reach the cave you walk through a botanic garden, where many varieties of cultivations coexist thanks to the particular climate of Lake Garda. The higher cave is the main observation point of the waterfall and you can enter it through a 15 meters tunnel which leads inside the mountain. It’s really a unique experience!
And, to complete the excursion in the Garda Trentino, if you drive about 15 minutes by car you can visit the alpine Lakes Tenno and Ledro.
TENNO LAKE
The Lake Tenno, developed around 1100 due to a collapse, it’s a lake that seems to be created by a painter’s palette for its beautiful turquoise colour. When the lake is slow, another island emerges, which is called “Island of ‘86” where, during that year, plaque “Whenever you’ll see me, you’ll cry” was put: in fact, the island emerges only in cases of extreme drought. The village Canale di Tenno is one of the most beautiful in Italy, between rural houses which are really close to each other and connected by covered walkways, entrance halls, inner courtyards and ancient vaults.
LAKE LEDRO
The Lake Ledro is one of the most suggestive and clean of the region Trentino, it’s located at 650 meters above sea level and surrounded by mountains. Thanks to its water, which is suitable for swimming, it’s ideal for practicing different sports like canoeing, sailing and fishing. There is also a big pet-friendly beach where you can take your four-legged friends with you. It’s also interesting to visit the “Museo delle Palafitte”, where you can find objects used during the daily life of the first lake’s populations and the rests of the ancient pile-dwelling village of the Bronze Age.
